We welcome your interest and involvement in MIRECC activities. Three general categories of involvement simplify the opportunities. The first step to becoming involved with the South Central MIRECC is to contact your nearest Site Leader

Levels of MIRECC involvement 

General VA staff: Clinical providers, administrators, support personnel, and trainees:

  • Receive monthly newsletter, South Central MIRECC Communiqué, via email
  • Receive information about educational trainings and regional conferences on PTSD, substance abuse, schizophrenia, and dementia.
  • Receive information about new clinical developments in veterans’ healthcare.
  • Eligible to apply for Clinical Educators Grants.
  • Attend special interest conference calls: e.g., Substance Abuse “Ask the Expert” series.
  • Trainees: Have opportunity for a two-year special research fellowship.

Affiliate or Collaborative MIRECC investigator:

  • Receive everything listed above and –
    • Attend special interest conference calls on PTSD, substance abuse, schizophrenia, and dementia.
    • Eligible to apply for Pilot Study Research Grant.
    • Receive information about VA and non-VA funding sources.
    • Receive research mentoring.
    • Receive methodology consultation and statistics support.
    • Eligible to participate in Grant Writing Scholars Course.
    • Attend the annual MIRECC Retreat.
    • Have opportunity to network with national MIRECC researchers.
    • If appropriate, have opportunity to mentor junior investigators.

Core MIRECC investigators:

  • Receive everything listed above and –
    • Have leadership in special interest research areas.
    • Eligible for bridging funds support.
    • Have opportunity for research collaboration.
    • Have opportunity to mentor junior investigators.
    • Attend and present at annual MIRECC Retreat.
