Dessa Bergen-Cico, PhD
Biography
Biography: Dr. Dessa Bergen-Cico received her MS in exercise science and her PhD in community health from Syracuse University. She is currently an associate professor of public health at Syracuse University. She holds several professional certifications including: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher Training, Addiction Specialist, Health and Wellness Coach, and Health Education Specialist. She collaborates with Dr. Kyle Possemato on research projects focused on MBSR interventions for veterans with PTSD in the primary care setting.
Research Interests: Dr. Bergen-Cico’s research interests are: mindfulness based stress reduction and other complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) interventions for veterans with PTSD and substance use disorders.
