Biography
Biography: Shannon McKenzie is a Research Coordinator at the Center for Integrated Healthcare at the Center's Syracuse, NY offices. The current projects that Shannon directs include 2 multisite studies, one in which involves CIH’s research collaboration with the Department of Defense. Shannon graduated Magna Cum Laude from SUNY University at Albany with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2009. Since starting at CIH three years ago and she’s gained extensive training and hands on experience in data collection and analysis, administering clinical measures, best research practices, and participant retention methods. Her research and clinical interests primarily include anxiety disorders and military cultural affects on family dynamics, but also include biopsychology and evidence-based theory and practice. To build on her current experience, within the next two years Shannon plans to apply to APA accredited clinical psychology graduate school programs, especailly those program that collaborate with VA facilities in their research & training endeavors.
Shannon is currently working on a manuscript with Dr. Possemato and Dr. Meghan McDevitt-Murphy (at the Memphis VA) investigating what factors independently predict PTSD severity among OIF/OEF combat veterans.
