- Bio: Barry Fisher, MD received his medical training from Indiana University School of Medicine and his psychiatric training at WPIC, UPMC. He is currently the Medical Director of the PTSD/Behavioral Medicine Clinic at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System where he treats veterans of WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War, The Gulf War, and current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is also Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry UPMC and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychiatry Temple University School of Medicine, Allegheny Campus. Dr. Fisher is a former president of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society.
- He is currently a primary investigator in a brain imaging study evaluating the role of GABA in PTSD.
- Research Interests: Dr. Fishers’ research interests include brain imaging in PTSD, pharmacotherapy of PTSD, and comorbid traumatic brain injury and PTSD.
