Bio: Dr. Pilkonis is Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
His research interests (supported by NIH funding) include assessment and treatment of personality disorders, depression (and its relationship to personality), treatment outcome research, and the application of new quantitative tools to measurement and modeling problems in psychopathology.
In terms of research training, he served as Director of the Psychology Internship Program from 1992 to 2008, and he continues as Director of the Postdoctoral Research Training Program for Clinical Psychologists. From 1997 to 2004, he served as the Associate Director of Research Administration and Development in the Department of Psychiatry. He served at NIMH as head of the Psychosocial Treatment Research Program from 1994 to 1996, fostering the portfolio of studies of psychosocial treatments for mental disorders in adults. Since that time, he has devoted much of his professional effort to helping young investigators at the University of Pittsburgh establish themselves as NIH grantees.
