- Bio: Charles F. Reynolds III, MD is the UPMC Endowed Professor of Geriatric Psychiatry, Neurology, and Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine; and Professor of Behavioral and Community Health Science at the Graduate School of Public Health. He directs the NIMH-sponsored Center for Interventions and Services Research for Late Life Mood Disorders, and the John A. Hartford Foundation Center of Excellence in Geriatric Psychiatry. Dr. Reynolds is Senior Associate Dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
- He earned his BA in philosophy from University of Virginia and his MD from Yale. He completed a medical internship at McGill and psychiatry residency at Pittsburgh. He has served on several Institute of Medicine study panels, including most recently a study dealing with workforce issues confronting the nation with regard to the care of its elderly.
- Research Interests: Dr. Reynolds' research interest encompass three themes:
- 1) prevention of depression and its complications in older adults,
- 2) development and testing of intervention strategies for incomplete or partial response in old-age depression and,
- 3) mental health services research focusing on older African Americans.
