Free CE: SC MIRECC CBOC Mental Health Grand Rounds Archived Webinar Series
The National SC MIRECC CBOC Mental Health Grand Rounds webinar series provides free continuing education (CE) training. The series covers new issues in mental health for rural and underserved Veterans. Our collection includes three recorded trainings that can help clinicians increase their knowledge of mental health treatment at VA. The trainings are available in TMS for VA clinicians and VHA TRAIN for community clinicians.

Food Matters: Nutrition Care for Mental Health

The purpose of this training is to address the connection between nutrition and mental health. It will provide an overview of how nutrition correlates with mental health, specifically focusing on depression and anxiety, discuss supportive dietary patterns, and review emerging evidence on the connection between the gut and mental health (gut-brain-axis) so that providers can integrate this knowledge into patient care.
Minutes Matter: Skills, Tools, and Ethical Considerations for Discussing Secure Firearm Storage

The purpose of this training is to enhance clinicians’ ability to engage in effective conversations about firearm access and storage with Veterans. It will preview a practical, evidence-informed guide to support collaborative conversations about secure firearm storage and introduce a new clinical tool for developing a Secure Storage Plan. It will also address the ethical considerations involved in discussing firearm access in the context of suicide risk and therapeutic rapport. (Not available in VHA TRAIN)
Updates on Treatment in Alzheimer’s Disease

The purpose of this training is to update clinicians on the newly available treatment options for Alzheimer's disease given the significant changes and advances in recent years. It will present an overview on the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and will discuss all currently available FDA-approved medications for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
