Biography

Biography: Ms. Kimberly Barrie currently serves as a CIH Social Worker and Project Coordinator. She earned her Master of Public Health Degree in the Arnold School of Public Health at the University of South Carolina. During her time at South Carolina, she became interested in research with Veterans when she served as a graduate research assistant working on an randomized clinical trial (RCT) VA Merit Grant for Dr. Shawn Youngstedt examining the impact of bright light therapy on PTSD symptoms and sleep. Kim earned her Master of Social Work degree at Syracuse University in 2011. She is interested in a career coordinating Veteran-focused research projects, as well as serving in other administrative and clinical roles for the Center. In addition to her other Center duties, Kim is a Center-certified trainer of clinical assessments, e.g., Clinician Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS). Kim's independent research interests focus on the role of physical activity and exercise in managing mental health concerns and other chronic and comorbid conditions, as well as the role of exercise prescription in primary care.
