Smartphone App Integration and Ethical Considerations for Mental Health Clinicians (Ethics CE)

Target Audience: VA CBOC mental health clinicians (all clinicians are welcome to attend)

TMS Registration for VA Clinicians
Click on registration link below. Course details will appear, and you will see “Choose Your Learning Style”. Choose “Instructor Led” for the Live course. Available Classes will appear; choose the class you are registering for by clicking on it. Register will appear in the top right corner of your screen; choose "Register." Registration screen appears and Accreditation Request selection. Use drop down to select accreditation(s). After selecting the accreditation(s), click on "Review". Review your selections, and click on "Complete." You are now registered, and will receive an email confirmation. Only register for the training you will attend or you will have issues with completing the evaluation and getting CE. If you need help, email Ainelda.Alfred@va.gov.
About the Topic
After this ethics continuing education credit training learners should be able to:
- Learn about the benefits of mental health apps to overcome barriers to care.
- Learn about app functionality and how to incorporate apps into clinical practice.
- Discuss how patients benefit from using apps in mental health treatment.
- Explain ethical considerations and safeguards for VA and non-VA apps.

- Community Clinicians: You should join through VHA TRAIN. If you have trouble, use the Microsoft Teams link below. You will have to access TRAIN afterwards to get CE. If you need help, email VHATRAIN@va.gov
- Join the Microsoft Teams Meeting
- Clinicians have 15 days after the training to complete the program evaluation and get their accredited certificate. After 15 days, the program expires.
Recorded Webinars for Free Continuing Education Credit
Select recordings are accredited for free continuing education credit and available to VA clinicians in TMS. Some newer recordings are available to community clinicians in TRAIN. Visit our recorded CBOC Mental Health Grand Rounds for continuing education webpage to take these trainings.
Download TMS CE Certificate
- For TMS, select “My History.”
- Find the training in your history and select “View Details” from the dialog box that opens when you tab to or hover over the title. DO NOT select “print certificate” as this creates a generic TMS certificate.
- In the Completed Work Details screen, find the section named “Accreditation Details.”
- Select the “Print Accredited Certificate” button next to your preferred CE.
