Ruth Ann W. Tsukuda, EdD, MPH

Associate Director for Education, VA Northwest Network Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC)

Dr. Tsukuda received her BS degree in Nursing from Mount Sinai School of Nursing of The City College of New York, her MPH in Health Administration from the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and her EdD from Seattle University. Prior to joining the NW MIRECC, she directed the Interprofessional Team Training and Development Program at the VA Medical Center in Portland, Oregon. This innovative clinical program offered interdisciplinary training to students and practitioners in team-based settings providing care to frail elderly veterans. She also served as Director of the Oregon Geriatric Education Center.

Currently, Dr. Tsukuda is an Associate Director for Education of VA Northwest Network Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC), a faculty member at Oregon Health and Science University and serves as a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry and the Division of Management. Her research and teaching focus is on collaborative practice and ethics in health care organizations. She concentrates her efforts on preparing students in the health professions to work in today’s complex and dynamic health care environment by promoting interdisciplinary practice and teamwork.
