VISN 2 Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention
|
Furthering Suicide Prevention Strategies and PoliciesThe Center's surveillance activities provide analytic support to the VA's Suicide Prevention Program by building off established foundations it helped to create. The COE-SP manages administrative support of the Suicide Data Repository and enhances VA reporting across all Veterans. |
Providing Awareness Guided by a Public Health ApproachEducation and training are key components of our Center’s public health approach to suicide prevention. From online trainings to in-person courses, our education team develops a variety of suicide prevention resources for Veterans and those who care for them. |
|
Linking Research to PracticeOur Center houses a robust, multifaceted research program that seeks innovative approaches to preventing Veteran suicide. Consistent with our Center's framework, research domains are designed to inform the development and use of evidence-based prevention. |
About the Center of Excellence for Suicide PreventionThe Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) established the Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention (COE-SP) in August 2007 with the overarching mission to prevent morbidity and mortality from suicidal behaviors among all Veterans by using a public health approach. |
