Paul Dougherty, DC
Paul Dougherty, DC is a 1990 graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic (now Logan University). He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists (DABCO). He spent 12 years in private practice and was one of the first chiropractors in NYS to be granted hospital privileges. He is certified in neurofunctional acupuncture. In 1997 he started teaching part time at New York Chiropractic College (now Northeast College of Health Sciences), where he is currently an adjunct Professor in the departments of Clinical Science and Research. In 2002 he started at the first of its kind chiropractic clinic in a teaching nursing home at Monroe Community Hospital. In 2005 he started with the Canandaigua VA Medical Center, where he developed teaching clinics and eventually a residency program which has evolved into a VA funded program through the Office of Academic Affiliations. He is a member of the North American Spine Society’s Evidence based guideline committee.
Dr. Dougherty has multiple federal and non-federal funded research studies investigating education programs, interventions for chronic pain and mechanistic studies. He has a special interest in the management of chronic pain in older adults. He has published multiple manuscripts and has been involved in the development of clinical practice guidelines and best practice documents dealing with the management of chronic pain.
