Somaia Mohamed, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Somaia Mohamed is Associate Director of the Northeast Program Evaluation Center and Associate Clinical Professor in the Yale Department of Psychiatry. She is responsible for the national evaluation of VA's rural intensive case management programs (Rural Access Network for Growth Enhancement – RANGE and Enhanced-RANGE). In 2009, she designed and implemented the E-RANGE program, providing intensive case management and homeless outreach to rural Veterans nation-wide. She has written evaluation reports on these programs annually since their inception. She also has published numerous research peer-reviewed papers on intensive case management in VA, and specifically on the process and outcomes of services to Veterans with serious mental illnesses who are living in rural areas. She is also leading a multi-site VA Cooperative study testing psychopharmacologic treatments for major depressive disorder (VA Augmentation and Switching Strategies for improving Depression Outcome – VAST-D). This study is the largest study to examine " next step" treatments yet undertaken.
