Our Mission Statement
VISN 2 Mission Statement 2-1-2018
The VISN 2-MIRECC focuses on maximizing recovery for Veterans with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) or suicidal ideation and behavior. This we intend to achieve by focusing on research and applying the results into clinical practice. Our aim, to reveal the causes and most effective treatments of SMI and suicidal ideation and behavior, is accomplished through collaborations between three core domains: research, education, and clinical interventions.
- Conducting research on the etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of SMI and suicide. This spans the spectrum from basic science to applied services research, and includes biological, psychological, social, and systems research.
- Implementing research-based, state-of-the-art clinical interventions for Veterans with SMI and suicide.
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of the educational interventions that improve the treatment of Veterans with SMI or suicidal symptoms.
