Albert J. Arias, M.D., M.S.
Dr. Albert Arias received his Doctorate of Medicine from Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine in 2001 and his Master of Science degree in Clinical and Translational Research from University of Connecticut in 2010. He is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Yale University School of Medicine and an attending psychiatrist in the Outpatient Addiction and Recovery Service at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. He also is the Co-Director of the tele-substance abuse consult service of VA’s National Tele-Mental Health Center. He specializes in the treatment of addictive disorders and of individuals diagnosed with co-occurring psychiatric problems, with specific interests in psychopharmacology, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, pharmacogenetics, and clinical supervision. Dr. Arias teaches Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine to medical students, residents, and fellows. His current clinical and teaching efforts focus on the application of technology to advancing psychiatric care and translating scientific discoveries into clinical practice. His current research focuses developing new pharmacologic treatments for substance use disorders and pharmacogenetics.
