Rocky Mountain Short Takes on Suicide Prevention:
A Mobile Safety Planning App with Dr. Pearl McGee-Vincent
2 June 2020
Adam Hoffberg got a chance to talk with Dr. Pearl McGee-Vincent, of the National Center for PTSD Dissemination and Training Division about the updated release of the app PTSD Coach. The wildly respected and used app now includes a digital safety plan for suicide prevention. Pearl takes us on a guided tour of the app and how it can make a difference in the lives of Veterans.
The Mobile Apps Team at the National Center for PTSD released the new digital Safety Plan in late April 2020. The Safety Planning Intervention is an evidence-based intervention used to prevent suicide. This new digital version, which matches the paper version currently in use across VA, is accessible within PTSD Coach, on both iOS and Android devices. You can learn more about the PTSD Coach app and all VA mobile apps.
