Recognizing the SC MIRECC Diversity & Inclusion Task Force

In Spring 2020, SC MIRECC took action to support discussion of social injustice issues and work towards diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within our organization. A Diversity & Inclusion Task Force was charged with identifying areas for improvement within SC MIRECC on DEI issues.

We thank the task force for the range of thoughtful, creative suggestions they provided to us. The task force carefully considered each recommendation. We especially appreciated the identification of near-term actions to take versus longer term initiatives.

We shared this document with our leadership team and are developing a plan of action. We are committed to promoting greater diversity and inclusiveness within the SC MIRECC and believe we can begin implementing several recommendations within six months and provide a progress report to the task force at that time.

We thank all the task force members for their active participation and thanks to Dr. Kyler Godwin and Mr. Darrell Zeno for their leadership. We appreciate everyone’s investment into helping to make the SC MIRECC an even better place to work.
