VISN 5 MIRECC - Presentations and Trainings Offered by MIRECC Investigators

About Us • Clinical • Education • Research

2016-2017 Schedule

The VISN 5 MIRECC hosts a Scientific Presentation Series at which MIRECC investigators and other outside speakers present research findings, discuss grants or other projects, and talk about other research-related issues. The purpose of these meetings is to provide a forum for interested parties to stay informed of new research, for presenters to get feedback on their work in progress, and to encourage communication and collaboration among local researchers from various organizations. Presentations tend to focus on schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses, although there is a considerable range of research topics featured. Recent presentations have included the following topics:

  • Successful learning in schizophrenia: Behavioral and neuroimaging studies
    Laura Rowland, PhD
    Maryland Psychiatric Research Center
  • Adjunctive treatment with galantamine and CDP choline for negative symptoms in schizophrenia
    Nina Schooler, PhD
  • Implementing smoking cessation treatment in outpatient mental health settings
    Seth Himelhoch, MD, MPH
    University of Maryland

These presentations are held every second and fourth Tuesday of the month, from 12pm-1pm EST at the VISN 5 MIRECC. If you would like to receive emails about upcoming presentations, or for more information, please contact:
