Justice Involved Persons with Traumatic Brain Injury
This section of the TBI toolkit is designed to help clinicians and program administrators working in correctional settings identify when TBI may be an issue for justice-involved individuals and to provide information on ways to manage TBI-related problems within adult and juvenile correctional settings.
We have included a number of resources and links throughout. This is not to be considered an exhaustive list of assessment and management strategies and resources, but it should serve as a starting place for identifying options for education and use in various correctional settings.
In most cases, identification and management of TBI and related issues are similar for adult and juvenile justice involved individuals. However, additional considerations for juvenile correctional settings are included when relevant (e.g., school re-entry planning).
